Greg Mattlage
Our Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Greg Mattlage started Catamount Capital in December 2005. He has more than 30 years combined experience in the financial services industry. Prior to launching our company, he served as assistant vice president of investments for Citigroup and as vice president of investments for UBS Financial Services. Greg was raised in Steamboat, CO, home to more Winter Olympians than any other ski town in the United States. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Baylor University and his Master's Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

Catamount Capital seeks investment opportunities that display unusually attractive risk/return characteristics and prefers those that generate cash flow. We subject each of these to a rigorous screening and evaluation process.
Our firm invests growth capital in proven management teams with demonstrable track records and unique technical expertise. We also steer away from investments that require weighty leverage in the capital structure to achieve our expected returns. REAL ESTATE
Our company develops, owns, and operates commercial real estate properties.
OIL & GAS MINERALS, EXPLORATION, PRODUCTION, & DISTRIBUTION
The firm owns minerals and production in a variety of basins. We also pursue investment opportunities in pipelines and oil field services.
ALTERNATIVE ENERGY & ELECTRIC POWER GENERATION
We own interests in a lithium minerals extraction operation and a geothermal power plant in the Salton Sea area of Southern California, the location of North America’s largest developable geothermal resource.
OPERATING BUSINESSES
Our firm provides growth capital to outstanding operating businesses. We seek companies with strong competitive positions, battle-tested management teams, and unique technical expertise. We build solid partnerships with our management teams, helping them execute business plans and create maximum value for stakeholders.
DISTRESSED DEBT/DISTRESSED SECURITIES
We sponsor a fund that invests in distressed corporate debt and deeply discounted residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities.
SPECIAL SITUATIONS
Our company will provide workout solutions, especially in situations where excessive leverage, poor management decisions, or unusual market circumstances encumber an otherwise viable project or business.
HEDGE FUNDS
We partner with hedge funds with proven success in adding value and managing risk. The firm may invest across a variety of disciplines including equity long/short, distressed debt, event-driven, global macro, and tail risk strategies.
